Those are the basic questions that ran through my head when I joined. However, what we often overlook are the callers who call in because they are painfully lonely. Every year around Christmas time, we receive a massive number of callers who are very lonely and depressed. When they speak to a lady on the phone who listens to them and shows them compassion, it really does make them feel better.
Over the years, many callers have telephoned the office staff and asked them to pass on their thanks to the operators for taking calls over the Christmas period and for providing them with a lovely service.
If you think about it, we are providing a crucial service for customers all over the UK who hugely benefit from speaking to women on the phone. Sometimes, just a friendly hello or the ability to listen to their problems can really make a difference.
Calls Over the Christmas Period
We know that many callers use our service during the Christmas period, as our call volume increases significantly. Even on Christmas Eve, Christmas Night, and New Year’s Eve, our call volumes are exceptionally high, and this is largely due to people calling us because they are lonely, depressed, or bored.
I am not saying that we are a counselling service; however, we do offer a service which allows us to speak to people with dignity and respect and give them something special to think about.
The Christmas period does not always go to plan for everyone! We always think of Christmas as an amazing time spent with lots of friends and family, consuming lots of food and drink! However, we must remember that not everyone always benefits from these enjoyments, so they may turn to us in their time of loneliness.
If you are taking calls during the Christmas period, we would like to thank you in advance, as it is going to be very busy. Secondly, please keep in mind that not every caller you speak to wants to dive straight into adult chat.
Some callers will want to talk, and they will want a sympathetic ear - someone to listen to them compassionately and give them the respect they deserve. We also know that taking calls during the Christmas period can be challenging due to family and friends visiting, which is why we have increased the rate for talk time over the festive period.
